From Dorothy Draper to Kelly Wearstler and the always inspiring pages of Lonny, we have found ourselves continually drawn, like moths to a bright gold flame, to the influence of 1930's Hollywood Regency style as well as fun modern interpretations thereof.

Bushels of wheat, faux bamboo, and a heavy handed Midas touch are just a couple of the ways we are picking up the golden trend at the shop.

"A high flying Hollywood entrepreneur"...gone wild

In the August issue, AD features a Martyn Lawrence Bullard designed house for "a high flying Hollywood entrepreneur" in beautiful Punta Mita, Mexico.

The house is undeniably "yummy" and "delicious" (to use a few Martyn-isms) and, quite often, magazine editors will omit the client's identity for privacy reasons.  In this case, we think they were just embarrassed about said client...

Our question is:  Were they not aware that the Bravo hit Million Dollar Decorators was going to feature the exact same house on an episode a few weeks ago?? Or, that this episode was going to reveal the identity of the "high flying" client as Girls Gone Wild creator, Joe Francis?   In the episode, we find him less than likeable as he berates his staff and and threatens to fire every last one of them.  Nor do we think very highly of his life's work.

I suppose we wouldn't have identified him by name either.

One thing that we can't find fault with?

Martyn's style and the master bedroom with it's mercury glass lamps:

Can you tell I'm ready for Happy Hour?

It's only 3:55, but I'm so excited about meeting my sister-in-law and my cousin's cousin for a yummy glass of Sauvignon Blanc a little later.  And, while I am always excited about an early-week glass of wine, I'm blaming Elle Decor today as I am just now getting around to reading their latest issue and happened across this:

What else is one to do, BUT think of something chilled and alcoholic after seeing this?  The only thing I think they got wrong?  Not including OUR favorite ice bucket:

$95

This William Bounds Grainware bucket holds three quarts of ice and looks like cut crystal, but is actually made of acrylic so you don't need to worry about chipping the glass or taking it outside. It is pretty, functional, and makes a great wedding gift!

Martyn vs. The Babybroads

So, if you haven't developed a healthy dedication to the Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo yet, feel free to do that right about...now. And, if you didn't quite make it to the One Kings Lane container sale featuring London found treasures by Martyn Lawrence-Bullard this week, worry not, because a few of those sold-out items can be found right here in San Antonio, and luckily for you and your [no doubt fabulous] pocket-book, without the hefty price tags...
