Hoofing it

I've loved John Dickinson ever since I realized one of my favorite pieces of furniture owned by my grandmother was by the famed designer.

Bibey's table was Dickinson's iconic draped galvanized steel table - similar to this one on 1stdibs:

What I didn't know, until I saw this month's Veranda, was that Dickinson also created the model for one of our favorite new pieces of furniture that we carry at the store.

The Dickinson Original

Veranda featured the design by Myra Hoefer....

But you can get your very own Dickinson inspired bench from us for a fraction of the price:

A Lesson on the Polka Dot

If the first thing that comes to mind when you here "Polka" is Lederhosen, an accordion, and yummy beer, pay attention!

The Polka Dot was first named in 1871 by Godey's Magazine.  Allegedly, the dot we now know as the "polka" was given it's name because it was as popular as the Czech peasant dance at it's height in the late 19th century.  If only a dot pattern had become popular circa 1995 - we could all be sporting the latest Macarena Dot....

According to Wikipedia, the Polka Dot is "generally confined to more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie."  Recently, the Dot has liberated itself from underthings and has been given attention by Elle Decor with many great polka dot products to dress your home, not you:

But, of course, our favorite Polka Dot item are pillows that you can buy from us on our website:
